SM320F2812-HT support

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INSTASPIN-BLDC, SM320F2812-HT, TMS320F2812

Hi,

Does the instaSpin support this device?

Does it support any other HT rated device?

Thanks, Isak.

  • The InstaSPIN-BLDC library that we show in Piccolo projects will run on F2812.

The InstaSPIN-FOC and MOTION solutions will NOT, as they are built into on-chip ROM on specific devices.

I'm not sure what the HT plans are for Piccolo devices. This is a separate group in TI which takes existing products and packages/tests for their markets. Let me see if I can get this question to the right person.

  • Right now we do not have any of the specific ROM coded parts on our HT roadmap, but we are evaluating market demand.  Please let me know your temperature and other requirements for your applications.

Please send to me mont-taylor at ti.com

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Just want to make sure that I got it straight.

For our application, the InstaSpin-BLDC solution is sufficient. The application is a hydraulic pump, so there is no start under load, and the torque is pretty constant.

Is the SM320F2812-HT the same device as the TMS320F2812 (besides the HT feature) ?

At the InstaSpin page: http://www.ti.com/ww/en/mcu/instaspin/index.shtml, It says that the InstaSpin-BLDC supports only the F2802x, F2803x and F2806x of the Piccolo family. Will the control suite example projects work with the F2812?

    Thanks!

  • Yes, the two devices are the same functionally.

We've never run InstaSPIN-BLDC on an F2812, but the library should work just fine on any fixed point F28x device.  Obviously you will have to make changes to the example project for the F2812 ADC, Event Manager, and any communications with the driver, fault protection, user, etc....but the IS-BLDC.lib should work just fine.
