Delfino C28343 controlCARD compatibility

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, TMDSDOCK28335, TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, TMS320C28343

Is Delfino C28343 controlCARD compatible with TMDSDOCK28335 and TMDSHVMTRINSPIN? Can I port motor control applications provided by controlSuite to TMS320C28343?

Thanks for your support,
Michael.

  • Michael,

Yes, the C28343 controlCARD hardware (TMDSCNCD28343) can plug into all DIMM100 baseboards.

Compatibility is a bit more complex, but generally things should work.  The Docking Station will be 100% compatible.  My only concern on a motor control board (such as the TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT) is with the ADCs on the C28343 controlCARD.  These ADCs are external to the C2000 MCU and are differential by default.  This means that two pins are needed to generate a signal as opposed to one on most other devices (and the usage of single-ended ADCs were assumed on most application kits).

If you plan on connecting the C28343 controlCARD to an application kit, I would recommend comparing the schematics of each to see whether the most important analog signals (phase currents, etc) will get into the C2000 device.

The F28335 device's motor software should look very similar to what you'd need to generate for the C28343 (except the ADC driver code).

    Thank you,
    Brett
