FOC for BLDC fan( 10Poles) used in HVAC .

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE, TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, CONTROLSUITE, INSTASPIN-BLDC

I have a Three -Phase  BLDC fan motor (10Poles) rated : 230 @ 0.45AMP . It's commonly used in HVAC inverter. My inverter has a VDC bus of 410VDC to dive my compressor and  my DC fan. Therefore,  I am looking for a FOC MCU Controller, and driver capable to meet the requirement listed above. I also need   the software to control BLDC.

Thanks,

Nourman C.

  • Hi Nourman,

Your post is being moved to the C2000 forum, where they can better answer your question.
  • Nourman,
For the control / software solution I would primarily recommend InstaSPIN-FOC supported by MotorWare. This will give you the highest performance in the quickest amount of time. This is supported through MotorWare and available on several Piccolo devices. The lowest cost version would be F28027F and there is a high voltage kit that includes this MCU on a controlCARD that plugs into the inverter TMDSHVMTRINSPIN

another option is to use InstaSPIN-BLDC supported by controlSUITE. This is lower performance trapezoidal control and you have to tune the current loop yourself. It runs on the more expensive F2803x series of devices, but is easily portable onto the F2802x family if that meets your other needs. InstaSPIN-BLDC project example isn't available on the High Voltage kit, only on low voltage kits. But customers have ported.

Please review and let me know if you have any other questions.
