Dear Support,

a few weeks ago, we buyed the LAUNCHXL-F28377S + BOOSTXL-DRV8301 Bundle and I am at the moment trying
to get it to work. At the Moment, we want to use the Boards for testing of an BLDC motor.

I would for that reason like to keep the whole thing as simple as possible, ideally with a GUI.

I know that there is the INSTASPIN Universal GUI and after a few tries I got it to work in CCS 6.1.

However, if I try to connect to the Launchpad via "connect Target" like it is said in the UNIVERSAL GUI QSG pdf-file from Motorware, I get the following error:

C28xx: Error connecting to the target: (Error -1041 @ 0x6) The debug probe reported an error. Confirm debug probe configuration and connections, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation. (Emulation package 5.1.641.0)

I would like to know if this is actually the right GUI to use and/or if there is more detailed documentation and examples regarding this particular combination.

There isn't any embedded firmware yet for the F28377S and BOOSTXL-DRV8301. In fact, there isn't yet for any motor control application. You would have to write yourself based on some of the example projects for F28335:

GUIs are just a way to instrument embedded firmware...so you need the firmware first. INSTASPINUNIVERSAL is for InstaSPIN enabled MCUs with embedded firmware built using MotorWare. F28377S does not have InstaSPIN nor MotorWare support.

thanks for your fast answer!

One question remains though: If there are basically no drivers, example projects, INSTASPIN or Motorware for this particular combination,

why does it get sold as a bundle? Is additional support for this combo planned in the future?

it gets sold as a bundle for the inverter + controller. I'm sorry if it was implied that InstaSPIN software would work on this...I assume you suspected that because of the text on the BOOSTXL-DRV8301 tool folder? I'll see if we can make this more clear.

We are planning a software example for an F28377S LaunchPad and motor control BoosterPack....we just kicked off the project so it will be a few months before release.

Well, the situation didn't change.. Teh two are still sold as a solid well working package, but still there is no code found that makes a motor spin with the F28377S... Or is there?

Hi Johannes, I am facing the same problem with F28377S and the BOOSTXL-DRV8301 as you did last august... Could you solve it?

I agree that this is not mentioned AT ALL on the LAUNCHXL-F28377S tool folder. We will get that corrected.
