TMS320F28027: Instaspin Lab2a worked for the TMDSCNCD28069MISO controlCARD but doesn't work for the TMDSCNCD28027F controlCARD in the HVMTR eval kit.

I have worked through most of the Instaspin-FOC labs using the TMDSCNCD28069MISO controlCARD with the HVMTR Eval Kit . The Instaspin-FOC solutions in the labs works great for my motor. I am now starting back on Lab2a but this time with the TMDSCNCD28027F controlCARD. After setting the "gMotorVars.Flag_Run_Identify” flag = 1 the motor identification process begins just like it does when using the TMDSCNCD28069MISO controlCARD but when the "gMotorVars.EstState" switches to the "Est_State_Rs" state the motor begins to make a high pitch squeal. I have been terminating the identification process at this point in time to prevent damage to the controller and motor.

Any ideas why the identification process difference exists between the TMDSCNCD28069MISO controlCARD and the TMDSCNCD28027F controlCARD?

Please refer to InstaSPIN labs user guide, lab02a does not support F28027F device with all kits. You can use lab02b or lab02c to do identification.

It was actually Lab2b that I was using when the motor made the high pitch squealing sound. Any idea why the Lab2b behaves differently when using the F28027F device versus the F28069 device?

Did you refer to labs guide and HVMTR EVM kit guide to set right switch on F28027F control card? Make sure the current and voltage sampling is right.

I inserted jumper [main]-J9 and removed jumper [M3]-J5 on the HVMTR EVM board to enable the JTAG Debug access via CCS.

I left the F28027F control card configuration alone and am using as is out of the box. SW1 has both switches set to 1(ON) and SW2, SW3, and SW4 have both switches set to the side with pins 3 and 6.

Are there any other configurations that need to take place?

1. SW4 set 5 to 6 for Mux-ADC-B7 connect to ADC-B7 on F28027F ControlCard.
2. Use the lab project for HV kit and F2802xF (\sw\solutions\instaspin_foc\boards\hvkit_rev1p1\f28x\f2802xF\projects\ccs5\proj_lab02b).
3. Set right motor parameters in user.h based on motor.

Does the Mux-ADC-B7 signal need to be connected to ADC-B0 or to ADC-B7?

Setting 5 to 6 on SW4 connects MUX-ADC-B7 to ADC-B0 (N-fb)

Setting 5 to 4 on SW4 connects MUX-ADC-B7 to ADC-B7 (Vfb-U)
