TMS320F28069: Ultra low sampling rate using F28069

Part Number: TMS320F28069

Hi there,

We tried to achieve a long-term monitoring using F28069 with ultra low sampling rate to save power. For example, we want the sampling frequency to be 1Hz or 0.5Hz. In this scenario, it seems that using PWM or timer to decide the sampling frequency may not be practical. Could you give me some hints on how to achieve this?

Thanks,

Dan

  • Dan,

Can you clarify what you plan to do when "sampling"?

The 32-bit TIMER has enough range to produce a 1Hz interrupt even at 90MHz.  However, I assume that you are more interested in power savings ?

The easiest approach is to run the device at a lower frequency to reduce the overall power draw.  Another option is to place the device into a low power mode between sampling intervals.  You can see the Power Consumption Summary in the datasheet for the power consumption of different modes.
