TIDEP0001: Is the TIDEP0001 compatible with C2000 MCUs ( particularly F28379D MCU)

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in the EtherCAT communication board TIDEP0001. However, I can't find any document like a manual, or a picture showing connections to the board. Also, I would like to ask if I can use the board to connect between a PC and a C2000 MCU device ( I'm using TMS320F28379D).

Hi Thuan, I can give you some some pointers and information about TIDEP0001

TI's Sitara family has some SoC which include PRU-ICSS. We also offer some Industrial protocols running on PRU-ICSS. EtherCAT slave is one of them.

PRU-ICSS EtherCAT slave can run on different Sitara SoCs. The TI design you reference uses AM3359 (ICEv2 board). However, if you want to connect a C2000 you might use a simplified version which is AMIC110

You can use AMIC110 along with TwinCAT if you want to. More information in below links:

Please note PRU-ICSS industrial software is an add-on to TI-RTOS Processor SDK

If you want to try PRU-ICSS EtherCAT slave v1.0.5 please use/install PSDK 4.1 bundle instead of latest, as it is mentioned in System Requirements.

About connection with TMS320F28379D I will let a colleague to answer.

The AMIC110 seems to suit my application. However, I have one small question: you said that "PRU-ICSS industrial software is an add-on to TI-RTOS Processor SDK", does it mean that I need to install the TI-RTOS SDK in order to install PRU-ICSS, so that I can work with the Sitara SoCs.

Also, I read the manual of the AMIC110 board. The board layout shows that it has connectors to C2000 Launchpad, which is a similar product to controlCARD F28379D, am I right ? How would the connection be if I conect the controlCARD instead of Lauchpad ?

Regarding F28379D, for Ethercat or multiprotocol support with Launchpad boosterpacks, you can leverage AMIC110 TI Designs.

The controlCARD and LaunchPad are very similar, the GPIOs exposed are basically the difference. I can't comment on connection differences on using controlCARD vs LaunchPad in this scenario.

>> You need to install both, the order doesn't matter. For building EtherCAT slave you will need components and tools which are bundle in TI-RTOS PSDK

Hello Chris,

Do you mean that I can simply connect corresponding GPIOs, for eg if I'm using SPI for communication, I simply connect SPI pins of controlCARD to the AMIC110's SPI pins. Is it correct ?
