TMS320F241 / TMS320F241FN

Hello all there, I`m need help. I tried the read checksum and did same other operations for used DSPs TMS320F241FN we bought. But Flasher-C2000 (Windows XP) don`t connecting to target and propose to try the steps to fix the problem.

- Probe selection matches the JTAGjet probe.

- Tried all JTAG clock frequency.

- Disabled the on-board buffers on the JTAG lines.

- All resistors are in  recommended range.

- JTAG connections on the target.

Please help, troubleshooting can`t do it.

  • We need more details in order to be able to help you. What we need to do is to isolate the problem to one of these entities:

    Your hardware:

Is this a known good H/W?

Is this a new design or a design that has been in use for a while?

Have you tried connecting to another board?

Your debug probe: Have you been able to connect to a known-good board using the debug probe?

The F241 device: Have you tried connection to more than 1 device?

The software: Are you able to connect to the target using CCS3.3?

You may be aware that TI announce EOL (End-of-Life) for this part in 2012. Support for this part is very limited and the entire tool-chain is now obsolete. Please answer all the above questions clearly and we'll do our best to help you.

  • Pavel,
We haven't heard back from you. Were you able to resolve this?
  • Hardware and debug probe: What means is "hardware"? If this is the DSPs i tried to read i don`t know it`s status, we used has been bought on ebay DSPs or has been in use.

This is not board, but DSP connected to JTAGjet via ISO-TI-14 debug probe. I tried connect to same other 241 DSPs.

The F241 device: No, i tried connection to 1 device only.

The software: i don`t tried connect to the target using CCS3.3. Can i read the hex files or checksum from DSP via it?
  • By "hardware", I was referring to the board on which the DSP is mounted. From your post, it appears there is no "board" as such, but a flash programming adapter. Would you be able to provide a photograph of your setup?

It is important to ensure your debug probe is able to establish a connection with the DSP. It is for this reason I suggested you do it with CCS3.3. Once you establish a connection, you would be able to read the Flash contents (which may be hex files or checksum).

On a different note, if the device was not bought from a TI authorized distributor, establishing the health of the device may be challenging. You also need to be vigilant about counterfeit devices.
  • We absolutely need to ensure that the JTAG debug probe is able to communicate with the device. Meaning, there are no hardware issues. Unless, this is done, it would be a waste of time trying to debug the flash programming issue. The easiest way to do this is to connect to the device using CCS3.3.

Did you approach Signum Systems for support?
