INSTASPINUNIVERSALGUI: Custom motor runs very rough

Part Number: INSTASPINUNIVERSALGUI

Hi

I have a custom BLDC motor Im running on the Instaspin HV board. When running though the identify routine, it runs loud and choppy, Ive played around with Estimation Freq = 100 and Motor Max Freq = 330 and it does make a differance, just not smooth.

Also its not consistant when Identifying the motor, it misses some of the tests.

The specs on the motor listed below

3 Phase

110VAC

SIN BEMF 30V/kRPM

Torque constant  0.2866 Nm/A

5000 RPM

My goal is to test the motor running back and forth maxium torque, when it hits a limit switch it reverses direction. Do you no of any labs that do a test close to that.

  • Can you try a lower value for USER_MOTOR_FLUX_EST_FREQ_Hz in your user.h? Try 5 or 10Hz?

Have you calculated USER_MOTOR_RATED_FLUX based on your motor specification?

We don't have a lab that demonstrates exactly what you're trying to do, but lab10a or lab5b should be pretty could starting points for you.
