TMS320F28069: serial flash programmer - Q's regarding implementation effords, hints & trix

Part Number: TMS320F28069
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, C2000WARE

Hi.

We have developed a TMS320F28069 based target system to be placed at the see floor (subsea). Our target system has a RS485 serial wire and we want a method to remotely (from “controlroom”) download new SW-versions over the RS485. I have a couple of Q’s:

Q1: I assume the operators at the control room must run a PC containg the TI’s controlSUITE (containing our application SW-versions to be downloaded)?

Q2: Has anyone developed this “controlSUITE-PC” with a “RS485 over USB” adapter (any problems/issues/trix’ discovered)?

Q3: Has anyone a very rough estimate of the implementation/test effort required to implement this (1 week, 3 months or longer?):

  1. For the “controlroom side” (controlSUITE)
  2. In our target system

I very much appreciate any commets to get a better "feeling" of the complexity & implementation effords required!

  • Hi Terje,

    1) That is correct. Although you should be using the software provided in C2000Ware. It will be the most up to date.

    2) Yes, it is a Visual Studio project and PC .exe. It is called the serial flash programmer, to be used with the SCi flash kernel.

    3) You can start with the SCI flash kernel and serial flash programmer mentioned above. This will help you get started for both sides of the communication.
