TMS320F28375D: FIFO size for SPI

Part Number: TMS320F28375D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8557

Hi,

I have question for SPI FIFO. I will use ADS8557 and connect single SPI line between the ADS part and F28375D.

ADS8557 will transfer six 16-bit data as below.

Q1. I believe F28375D can receive six 16-bit data because it has 16-level receive FIFO. Is it correct?

Q2. Are there any concerns to receive this six 16-bit data?

Q3. Have you ever evaluate SPI with the ADS?

Regards,
Nagata.

  • Nagata-san,

    1. You are slightly mistaken here. All C2000 devices can handle 16-bit data because the word size supports from 1 to 16 bits. The FIFO depth has nothing to do with word size.
    2. The F2837x supports a 16-level (or 16 words ) FIFO depth. Meaning, up 16 words can be held in a FIFO without data loss. 6 words at one time will not be an issue.
    3. Within the product group, we have not specifically tested this ADS chip with the F2837x device, but if you just search the forums, you will see many people using C2000 with ADS parts. I do not foresee any issues with the basics of communication between the two devices.
