Hello TI,

I am trying to develop a design for motor control for a brushless DC motor using the reference design TIDA-00643. My speed keeps on getting capped at 4500 rpm. What parameters should I change to maximize the speed?

The typical ways are:

1) Increasing DC bus, if possible
2) using techniques to overcome back-emf, such as field weakening
3) finding ways to increase DC bus utilization such as overmodulation

How many poles is the motor you are trying to spin? What's the rated current/speed? Need to know more about your system to give a suggestion that makes sense in the context of your project

I am using a 6 pole motor with the a rated current of 17A. I have attached the specifications for the motor. I tried changing maxModulation but the speed still caps at 6600 rpm.

If you're using a 6 pole motor, you have 3 pole pairs, but you've listed the pole pairs as 6 (meaning 12 poles) in your user.h. If that is incorrect, please fix that and try again. You have a low inductance motor, which lab did you use to identify the motor parameters?

I used lab 2c to identify the motor parameters. The speed is still getting capped at 5500 rpm. I want to achieve the maximum speed for the motor. I was also wondering is there any TI motor control engineer/ specialist in Vancouver who could come to our office and work with us to resolve the speed issue.

I changed the number of pole for my motor. And it works great now. Thanks
