SMJ320F2812: Critical Anomaly SMJ320F2812 EVA PWM

Part Number: SMJ320F2812

My customer is facing a critical anomaly in SMJ320F2812 EVA PWM. All of a sudden a working device PWM output is not coming. But once we powered it off and on, its working fine and problem has not come till now. One suspected way is register corruption due to single event or EMI. Another one is, we have connected the PDPINTx to ground since we are not using it and we have not enabled the interrupts in PIE. So whether that interrupt can occur ?

  • Rahul,
This is very little information to go on.
However, a grounded external interrupt should not be able to trigger an interrupt.

Is this new firmware that is being debugged, or existing firmware that all of the sudden shows different behavior?
How often is this event occurring? If frequently, then not likely that it is SEU related (unless this is test results from radiation source).

If event can be repeated, then firmware can be modified to help debug and isolate the cause.

I would also suggest evaluating power supplies. Noise on power can disrupt operation of device is they are not within recommended operating conditions.

    Regards,
    Wade
