TMS320F280049: SDFM clock pins using Manchester encoding

Part Number: TMS320F280049
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1303E0510

We are looking at using a few AMC1303E0510 with the TMS320F280049 SDFM module using Mode 2 for Manchester encoding.  In the TRM under section 17.3 it says:

"When MOD=2, data and modulated clock signals are encoded into modulated data as shown in Mode 2 of Figure 17-4. In this mode, the clock input SD-Cx pin should be left floating."

Do we actually need to configure the pin mux to the SD-Cx pins and float them, or can we just configure the pin mux to not use SD-Cx pins?
