CCS/TMS320F28376D: CCS. 8.0.0.00016 not able to enter debug on newer devices

Part Number: TMS320F28376D

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi Everybody ,

I have being using since long time  CCS. 8.0.0.00016   + blackhawk NO  problem at all .

now   newer boards  mounting  same F28376D  , using same PC , same CCS. 8.0.0.00016   and same blackhawk    I cannot enter  debug  -->  I get this error :

“C28xx_CPU1: GEL Output:

Memory Map Initialization Complete

C28xx_CPU1: Loader: One or more sections of your program falls into a memory region that is not writable.  These regions will not actually be written to the target.  Check your linker configuration and/or memory map.

C28xx_CPU1: File Loader: Verification failed: Values at address 0x93138@Program do not match Please verify target memory and memory map.

C28xx_CPU1: GEL: File: C:\Work\............\TMS320F28376D_cpu1\Debug\TMS320F28376D_cpu1.out: a data verification error occurred, file load failed.”

same newer board with newer DSP  using  another PC  with CCS 8.3  and same Blackhwak   are working  . ( only thing we were forces to change in CCS8.3 was to change to lib rts2800_fpu32.lib   to stop a compiling issue ) .

I tested  same boards using  XDS100  exactly same behaviour

please what can be wrong  ?   due to legacy I must stay on CCS. 8.0.0.00016

in attach you have pictures of older ( working ) and newer ( NOT  working ) F28376D  devices  using CCS. 8.0.0.00016 .

best regards

Carlo

  • Carlo,

As per this you are using different PC now. If you use the old PC, does problem go away? If yes, then please make sure you have all the CCS update downloaded. You can check for update from CCS menu (Help -> Check for Updates).

  • HI Vivek ,
the two PC are exatcly the same ( company PC ) the difference is in CCS version . 8.3 is fine the older 8.000 has the issue ...
it is only CCS version issue ...

  • Carlo,

Check for updates in CCS (CCS Debug window -> Help -> Check for updates) for below packages:
    (i) emulation package (that you are using)
    (ii) TI C2000 Device Support
(iii) CCS Flash Content (sometimes this package is named as “Debug Server Flash”)
    (iv) Debug Server

Install the updates for these packages and see if that helps.

    Thanks and regards,
    Vamsi
  • Hi Vivek ,
we did all updates ( one by one ) and this one is solving the issue :
--> TI C2000 Device Support 4.2.7.0 and this time the error disappear and I’m able to go in debug again with CCS 8.0.0.00016.
    thank you
    best regards
    Carlo
  • Carlo,

Glad updating the TI C2000 Device Support package helped fix the issue.

    I am closing the post.

    Thanks and regards,
    Vamsi
