TMDSCNCD28069: {TEX116}F2806xISOcontrolCARDr0.4.pcb layout file

Part Number: TMDSCNCD28069
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, C2000WARE

It looks like, based on a previous thread, that the layout file {TEX116}F2806xISOcontrolCARDr0.4.pcb was created using Mentor Pads. I was wondering if it would be possible to save, and then share, the file using the Maker license of Pads software so that it can be opened in Maker or Pro edition? The current version in control suite can't be opened using the free license of Mentor Pads.

  • Zack,

it looks like this design has a".PCB" file, an ASCII file, as well as gerber files provided in controlSUITE and C2000Ware.

Are you trying to modify this design or just take a look at the layout? There should be many free gerber views available. I imagine you should even be able to find an ASCII viewer as well.

If you are trying to modify the design that may be a little bit more tricky. You'll probably have to get a license for an editor.

Finally, its a little unclear what you mean by "would be possible to save, and then share, the file using the Maker license of Pads software" if you have a desired file format i'll take a look at it. However, I suspect the answer is no.

    Cody

  • Hi Zack,
Hopefully, you were able to make progress by utilizing a gerber viewer or other method.  Please let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

I was hoping to edit the file. Are these files too complex to save using the free version of Pads? If so then I was hoping you all could save the files using the Maker version and make them available in Control Suite. If not then I'll try to find another layout editor.

    Thanks for your help.

    Zack

  • Hi Zack,

Much like you aren't able to open the controlCARD design in PADS Maker, we also wouldn't be able to.  After just a bit of research, it also doesn't appear that Mentor PADS has the capability of saving to a file type that PADS Maker can read.

So, I think you may be stuck.  Unfortunately, this type of thing is fairly common for EDA PCB design suites (import/exporting between suites).  It's not uncommon to have to redraw.  I do know the ASCII files that PADS generate will import pretty well into Altium, if that helps.

    Thank you,
    Brett
