TMS320F28075: EMIF1 to connect an ASRAM of 2MWord*16bit (A[20:0], DQ[15:0])

Part Number: TMS320F28075

Hello,

My customer would like to put a 4MByte ASRAM on the EMIF1.

It would be glad if 2MWord*16bit (A[20:0], DQ[15:0]) type is good. They have many parts in their inventory.

Then we are looking into the DS, Table 6-3 EMIF Chip Select Memory Map.

We find a sentence, "If 16-bit memory is used, then the maximum size is 1M x 16."

The sentence would say the EMIF doesn’t accept ASRAMs of 2MWord*16bit.

On the other hand the DS p.23, we find EM1A19. From the terminal I would expect

the address signals could be connected as follows:

(F28075 EMIF1) - - - (ASRAM)

EM1A19             - - - A20

EM1A18             - - - A19

. . .

EM1A0                - - - A1

EM1BA[1]           - - - A0

- - -

I’m sorry for a long explanation, can I ask two questions?

Q1. Is it possible to connect 2MWord*16bit (A[20:0], DQ[15:0]) type ASRAM to the EMIF1 ?

Q2. Could you please advise how to put a, SRAM of total 4MBytes?

An idea would be to put a couple of half size SRAM, like 1MWord*16bit (A[20:0], DQ[15:0]),

But a better idea would be highly appreciated.
