TIDM-RESLLC-DCDC: usage at lower voltages

Part Number: TIDM-RESLLC-DCDC

Hi team,

I'm working on a power supply DC/DC isolated and resonant, 24VDC input, 12VDC output, power will be around 200W/300W; do you believe the TIDM-RESLLC-DCDC could work also at these lower Vin?

If not, could you please suggest me any alternative?

Thank you and best regards,

Adrian

  • Hi Adrian,

I don't believe this reference design will operate at that low of a voltage. You will need to redesign the magnetics. The control algorithm and software would still be much the same, though.

Do you need to use the LLC topology, or can you use another topology?

    Thanks,

    Clayton Greenbaum

  • Hi Clayton,

thanks for the feedback. Other topologies are welcome, please let me know what would you use and propose.

    Best regards,

    Adrian

  • Hi Adrian,

I talked to some of my colleagues and searched around the TI website, I couldn't find a reference design very similar to what your requirements are.

I think there's no problem with starting from one of these 400V LLC designs as a reference and then redesigning the magnetics to give an appropriate gain. The software provided with these reference designs should be a very good match then for the powerstage you design with the new magnetics.

You can find some good information and app notes on designing LLC magnetics if you Google: LLC resonant half-bridge converter design

Check out some of the first few results and they will give you a good starting point.

I hope you're in good health.

    Best,

    Clayton Greenbaum

  • Thanks Clayton,

I'll do so and see if the customer has further questions.

    Stay safe out there!

    Cheers,

    Adrian
