TIDM-SOLAR-DCDC: C2000™ microcontrollers forum

Part Number: TIDM-SOLAR-DCDC

I have an application where i would like to modify the TIDM-SOLAR-DCDC  design to as a 2 stage converter as follows

Stage 1 : 2 phase boost :  Input  5-30V , output 65V ,500W, regulates input current . Don't need MPPT ,Needs new inductor , new FETS? ,new PCB etc .

Stage 2 : LLC isolated converter :  65V to 400V  open loop , 500W . Needs new Transformer design ,PCB ,FETS

I guess I could use the TIDM-SOLAR-DCDC  as a template for this design .

I guess  the controller and of the software would be similar and could be  modified .

Any thoughts /advice on this  ? How easy would would it be to modify the TIDM-SOLAR-DCDC  reference design for this application ?

  • You can use this as template. But your voltage is very low and the current is pretty high so you cannot use this h/w. Digital controller can have the same structure (2p2z) but the coefficients will change as this is a different power stage. Overall software can be similar and can be modified.

You should design your h/w.  TIDM-SOLAR-DCDC h/w is not appropriate for your application because your h/w specifications are drastically different.
