TMDSFSIADAPEVM: FSI Adapter Board questions

Part Number: TMDSFSIADAPEVM

- I have some questions related to FSI interface.

1- what is the maximum data rate of this interface?

2- what is the maximum cable length that can be used with FSI Adapter Board?

3- what is the MCUs families that supports the FSI interface?

1- what is the maximum data rate of this interface?

The maximum data rate of the C2000's FSI module with a 50 MHz FSI clock is 100 Mbps when using one data line (D0) and 200 Mbps when using two data lines (D0 & D1). I'd recommend reviewing the FSI collateral in the device specific datasheet and TRM for more details on the module.

The TMDSFSIADAPEVM has both LVDS and RS-485 differential drivers on-board. In our tests the LVDS will support the max FSI data rate, 50 MHz clock. The RS-485 was found to support 25 MHz FSI in our tests.

In our tests we found the LVDS drivers could sufficiently handle up to a 10m cable length with 50 MHz FSI (Max speed). RS-485 drivers could sufficiently handle up to a 15m cable length with 25 MHz FSI (Half speed). This is detailed in Tables 6 and 7 of the Board's User Guide.

3- what is the MCUs families that supports the FSI interface?

The F28004x, F2838x, and F28002x C2000 MCUs all include FSI and have evaluation hardware that is compatible with the TMDSFSIADAPEVM. Future C2000 devices will include FSI as well.

Please find additional details on this in section 4 of the TMDSFSIADAPEVM User's Guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/swru555
