CCS/TMS320F28027: Device is locked or not connected, Operation cancelled.

Hi all,

I am debugging TMS320F28027 controller with XDS110 emulator. During flashing, I am getting the following error

C28xx: GEL Output:
Device Calibration not complete, check if device is unlocked and recalibrate.C28xx: Flash Programmer: Warning: The configured device (TMS320F28027), does not match the detected device (). Flash Programming operations could be affected. Please consider modifying your target configuration file.
C28xx: GEL Output:
Device Calibration not complete, check if device is unlocked and recalibrate.C28xx: Flash Programmer: Device is locked or not connected. Operation cancelled.
C28xx: File Loader: Memory write failed: Unknown error
C28xx: GEL: File: C:\Users\mohamedaslam.b\workspace_v9\gpio\Debug\gpio.out: Load failed.

Can anyone explain how to resolve this issue?

And I am mistakenly conneted the VDDIO pin to the ground through the capacitors during flashing? Is this reason for device lock?

Mohamed,

Can you comment on the settings in your device .ccxml target configuration file? This is the reason CCS is reporting a mismatch, if you have selected a different device other than the F28027 it will give this error.

Also the location of the calibration routines are different if the device is incorrect, so this may be related if we fix the above.

In terms of damage or device lock, I would put the device in "Wait Boot" mode as shown here in the device DS and then connect to the target. Once we have a connection we can look to see if the contents of the flash are readable or not.

Hi sir,

My target configuration settings are correct only but still I am getting this error. And in the memory location 0x3f6000, all the values are zero instead of FFFF.

Is this device is damaged or locked permanently? what will be the reason?

If the flash is reading all 0x0000 then likely the device is locked. The calibration functions are in OTP, I believe they are also in protected regions so that would correlate.

Once you are connected, can you go to Tools->On-chip Flash, and see if you can erase the device? If this fails then the password is programmed to an unknown value and the device would need to be replaced.

Hi sir,

I have one more doubt. Is TCK, TMS, TDI, TDO pin has to be pulled up? I have connected as below image. Is this okay?

From a JTAG POV the diagram is correct. The only caveat is that TDO is shared with GPIO37 which is a boot mode pin. Depending on the boot mode you desire you will want a PU or PD on this pin so that it boot predictably when the JTAG is not connected

There are other JTAG pins that are shared with GPIOs on this device, but they shouldn't require a Pull natively.
