TMS320F28377D: Interface to ADC3643 / max serial datarate

Hi all

My customer is working on a system using the ADC3643 and the TMS320F28377D.

Their take is they will need an FPGA to interface the ADC to the C2000.

32MHz input, decimation by 32, 1MHz output. Target resolution is18Bits at 1Msps = 36MBd serial interface required.

Is their understanding correct ?

Best regards

  • Ueli,

The math looks reasonable to me for using both ADC channels.  From a high level, there might be some native options if the total ADC output is 36Mbps.

The UPP would not work for parallel read mode because the UPP can only support an 8-bit wide bus.

For serial mode, there are three SPI instances that can each support 50-MHz clock rates using specific PINMUX settings.  Synchronization with the Frame signal might be tricky.  There are two 25-MHz McBSPs that might be able to support Frame synchronization.

If either of these options sound appealing, we can pull in the experts to weigh in on the technical details.

Thank you for the quick reply. The project is in an early stage, the customer will look into the actual implementation in 3 - 4 months.

    Best regards
