Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer is using  CCS v3.3 on TMS320F28334. Is there a piece of software that they can install in their panel PC that will connect permanently via USB cable to their new controller board which will have the FT2232D USB interface chip installed?  No additional hardware should be required.  This piece of software would be used to program the flash memory in the F28334.  No debug capability needed.

    Is the piece of software intended for updating the firmware/application? There is no such code which programs the flash memory via USB. However, there are a  couple of examples that can be used for reference . These are included in C2000Ware "f28335_can_flash_kernel" and "f28335_flash_kernel" (SCI) . These examples download code to RAM and then runs this code which allows application to be programmed into flash.

    The customer wasn’t really looking for a new project to tackle. 

    He is just going to load CCS 3.3 on their panel PC with no source code.

    Then their own customer can connect via the USB port and use the F28xx On-chip Flash Programmer to flash the chip.

    Is the customer expecting to launch CCS and use the F28xx On-chip Flash Programmer ? If so, the board will need to have an onboard  emulator to connect to the target

    Good day.

    The customer just realize that the docking station is equipped with an emulator. The only ic chip on this board capable of this function, he believe, is the FT2232D USB interface. Customer have incorporated this same circuitry into the board he is designing. Please let me know if the customer is missing something here.

    If the docking station has an emulator, can the customer connect the board to the docking station and use CCS to connect to the target? If so, then the On-chip flash programmer can be used.

    Just a follow-up from the customer below in verbatim.

    "I have built a prototype board, but I have not been able to connect to the processor with CCS 3.3.

    I see in the docking station schematic that there is a chip labeled U3, which is a EEPROM. 

    Does this chip contain information or programming code necessary for the on-board emulator? 

    If so, is a programmed version available for integration into our custom board?"

    You can request the customer to have a look at the schematic of Control Card. This will give them an idea on how to interface an emulator
