TMDXIDDK379D: The connection between signal ground and power circuit ground

Part Number: TMDXIDDK379D

Dear team:

A customer of mine has some questions about the connection relationship between signal ground and power circuit ground.

The figure below is the top schematic diagram of the IDDK development kit. Among them, Hot GND is the power ground, and Cold GND is the control ground. The development kit provides two different ground connections.

The default connection method of the development kit is to connect the various grounds of the positive board together, and the circuit board has only one ground.

He wants to know under what circumstances, power ground and control ground can be distinguished or not.

Do we have documentation for this?

Best regards

  • Green,

We dont have a specific document just for that. There is some guidance given in the IDDK hardware user guide. Mixing power and control GND reduces the signal to noise ratio reducing the fidelity of the sensed signal. IDDK provides options to test connecting the power and control GND at multiple places to study the impact of GND mixing.
