TIDM-02002: PMP21553 SiC_FLT/RSVD1_P signal

Part Number: TIDM-02002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP21553,

Does anyone no what was this RSVD1_P and RSVD2_P used for on TIDM-02002? It goes to both PMP21553 transistor drivers boards and it's named as SiC_FLT there, but it is not connected to anything.

  • Pawel,

RSVD means reserved. The pin is reserved for a function for development, potential future expansion, or other reasons. You are correct that it does appear that the SiC_FLT pin is unconnected in the PMP21553 design, likely the reason why these two pins are marked as RSVD1/2_P.

  • This clearly does not answer my question Slight smile I'm wondering if this was used for temperature measurement? There are resistors close to the processor and by their value I wonder if that is the case...? If so, then why it has been removed from the design and marked as reserved and resistors are all still there.

  • Pawel,

I respect that you are unsatisfied with this answer. TI reserves the right to use TI Designs for research, future expansion and other internal goals. Occasionally additional circuits will be developed in light of these goals. I these cases TI may or may not choose to document the circuits intended purpose if it does not affect the overall design as it is documented.

The existence of these components and circuits do not affect the TIDM-02002 system as it is intended to be used, for this reason I believe marking these nodes are "reserved" constitutes a fully documented product. If the circuit had effects on the published results for TIDM-02002 we would disclose their purpose.
