LAUNCHXL-F28069M: Does it support a different self-made application other than the Booster Packs and is it compatible with the code from TMDSSOLARUINVKIT?

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSCNCD28069, C2000WARE

Hi Guys,

I need your help and advise for our customer's concern.

Is there anyway that this LAUNCHXL-F28069M also be used in different applications like the controlCard or is it limited to only be compatible with the BoosterPacks products? They want  to use the launchPAD separately, in their own application, they already have the MCU chip already connected to all the pins and to the USB for debugging. Basically they are asking if they can use the ADC and PWM pins for a different application. Because in the schematic of the launchPAD they are specifically marked with the use they are intended for, like one ADC is marked as Vdc for example, another 3 pins for the 3-phased current and etc.

They also own a TMDSSOLARUINVKIT and they want to develop a sort of extension to it, which is why they need this LAUNCHXL-F28069M for. They would  use it to control another single-phase full-bridge converter. They also want to know if the LAUNCHXL-F28069M can support the case code similar to the one used for the TMDSSOLARUINVKIT. Since TMDSSOLARUINVKIT is said to also be compatible with the MCU chip used by LAUNCHXL-F28069M and they want a confirmation. So, overall, can LAUNCHXL-F28069M support a different self-made application other that the BoosterPacks and, if it can, would be it compatible with the code from TMDSSOLARUINVKIT?

Kindly enlighten us please. Looking forward to your response. Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

The F28069M device on the LaunchPad is the same as the respective ControlCARDs (TMDSCNCD28069), so they can certainly run the same code. They are different platforms however and some HW system kits are designed for the LP (like BoosterPacks) and others the CC (TMDSSOLARUINVKIT).

Basically they are asking if they can use the ADC and PWM pins for a different application. Because in the schematic of the launchPAD they are specifically marked with the use they are intended for, like one ADC is marked as Vdc for example, another 3 pins for the 3-phased current and etc.

They can use the F28069M signals for whatever purpose they want, assuming HW connections and code match the intended purpose. The LaunchPad board just brings the device signals out to a header location which can be purposed for whatever in a custom application. Please see the LAUNCHXL-F28069M schematic for details, located in C2000WARE:

    C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_3_04_00_00\boards\LaunchPads\LAUNCHXL-F28069M

If using CC code on a LP, one thing to check and probably change is the Clock configuration in SW. The CC has a 20MHz crystal on-board while the LP does not by default.

    Best,
