    It would help if you could provide some insight into the past history of the board you are working with. Is this a brand new board that you are attempting to connect to CCS for the first time? If the flash memory has code that would put the device into HALT mode, the error you mention would occur. If this is a new board with no code in flash, we need to look elsewhere. One idea you could try is to put the device in SCI boot mode (see Table 6-1, page 43 of SPRS584N). You need to use SW2 on the ControlCard.

It is not a new board. It started having problems with downloading the code. Replugging the USB cable seemed to have helped. But then I was pulling signals from GPIO20. I attempted to run them through an LC filter and after a bit it threw this error. It is possible that I could have taxed the power output of the board. It is hard believe, since I was running an inductor in series with a capacitor to ground. I'm running the board through TMDSDOCK28035, the TI Docking-Stn USB-EMU [R3] TXN100. I'll go ahead and do the testing you suggested and get back to you. Thanks, Dan

              OK, you are indeed using our ControlCard, with a docking station. Does your application code have the password locations programmed? or are they all 0xFFFF?

Any GPIO pin is able to source at least 4 mA. Do you think you drew more than this on GPIO20? My bigger worry is if you current-starved the device during flash programming (assuming you attempted to load your application in flash and not RAM). If you did, it could inadvertently corrupt the password locations, thereby permanently locking the device. 

Hareesh, This is unlikely as I was up and running when the first error occurred. I'm unsure now what that error was. I'm thinking it was not the one I attached above. 1. Is there a way that I can be sure this has happened?  2. If it has is there a way to recover the device?

   Did you try out my suggestion? Please answer all my questions thus far. If the device is inadvertently locked, there is unfortunately no way to recover it.

The voltage at pin 5 of the chip XRS, is low ~160mV. I tried to obtain SPRS584N and could not find it on the ti website. Any suggesstions?

This table tells me the EMU mode state, where mode 1 is SCI. There are GPIO registers defined, but no where in the documentation on the TMDSCNCD28035 documentation provided, is there any reference to SW2 state of position 1 & 2 that will force EMU mode state 1. Would you provide me with the information of the state of SW2 positions to enable EMU mode state 1?

Pin5 of the chip is not -XRS. -XRS is pin 9. Please refer to Fig 4-3 in page 13 of SPRS584N.

Hareesh, Thanks for the info on -XRS. I probed pin 9 on TMS320F28035PNT => LOW @ 71.5mV. Yes i finally found SW2. It was unclear, however, after looking at SPRUI10, "TMS320F2803x Piccolo Technical Reference Manual," pp. 186, 187 Sec. 2.2.9.1, 2.2.9.2, on how to actually take advantage of resetting the EMU mode.  From what I got was 1. kill Code Composer Studio; 2. Power off TMDSCNCD28035; 3. Change SW2 to 1-on 2-off or GPIO34-on TDO-off; 4. Power on TMDSCNCD28035; 5. Wait; 6. Power off TMDSCNCD28035; 7. Set SW2 to 1-on 2-on; 8. Power on TMDSCNCD28035; 9. Start Code Composer Studio; 10. Try to Load code. Let me know if this is it?
