I'm currently working on tracking down some ADC noise in one of our TMS320F28335 designs, and I've purchased a TMS320C2000 Experimenter Kit to see if the same noise profile is present on an official TI dev kit.

I have the schematic for the 'Docking Station' which the card plugs into, but I can't seem to find any information (schematics, etc) relating to the card itself.

Specifically I'd like information on the ADC setup (references, etc), so if you can't supply a schematic, can someone please provide me with some information on the setup?

The schematics for the F28335 controlCARD should be found in the following folder within controlSUITE:
C:\TI\controlSUITE\development_kits\~controlCARDs\CC2833xHWdevPkg\

ZJZ means BGA based card and PGF means LQFP based card.

Are there currently two ordering options for hte controlCARD? i'm looking to purchase a F28335 card and drop in a F28232 chip in its place but it would only be possible with an LQFP.

Mike,

No. Unfortunately, we currently only sell the ZJZ (BGA) package controlCARD.

For several months we shipped LQFP F28335 controlCARDs because we wanted to alleviate some of the pressure from high demand on 'F28335 BGA parts. However, at this time, we have stopped manufacturing the LQFP cCARDs because supply has improved.

I know this won't help you much, but inside controlSUITE, you can find a schematic for the now obsolete F28335 LQFP cCARD.

However, it should be mentioned that the F28335 is a superset of the F28232 device. Therefore, a full software development of the F28232 could be implemented on the F28335 controlCARD. Just limit yourself to a smaller memory and don't use the floating point unit. Once the customer creates a custom board they can then implement the F28332 on their board.

Thanks Brett. So once they've done their development they should be able to easily re-target the F28232 then?

Mike,

Yes. They should not have a problem.

All F28232 code is runnable on a F28335. A full list of subtractions between the F28335 and the F28232 can be found in the datasheet for the device. Clock speed decrease, peripheral decrease, and lack of floating point is what they'll have to comprehend.
