28035 - New Hardware "Device Calibration not complete, check if device is unlocked and recalibrate."

Hello:

I have just gotten new boards with 28035's and have connected them to CCS.3.3.83.16  When I connect I get the message "Device Calibration not complete, check if device is unlocked and recalibrate."  This is the first time we have applied power to the devices.   I need to get these boards tested.  I am currently blocked.

Best,

  • Graham,

The device cal function called when you go through the boot ROM.  To help during debug the gel file also tries to perform this calibration when you reset (I think its reset).  Sometimes folks will bypass the boot ROM while debugging and find that their ADC  and oscillator isn't in spec because they haven't gone through the device cal routine.

The cal function is protected by the code security module, so if there is no unlock after reset of the CSM, the calibration by the gel won't work.  The gel is just making sure you are aware of this.     If the CSM password is not programmed then opening a memory window to the password will unlock it (0x3f7ff8-0x3f7fff on 2803x).   You can also call the calibration routine in your application - all of the header file and peripheral examples will show how to do this.

Hope this helps - let me know if you need more info.

After further review........as a software person I didn't  check our power supply .  It seems there is a hardware issue that limits the processor supply voltage to 1,8vdc.  Enough to power the core but not the IO.  I will correct this and report back.

Thanks for the input.  I was single stepping though the boot code and I had opened a memory window to the locations you indicated.

  • We seem to be getting the same error message as well.  I tried what was suggested but it didn't work.  Sometimes my CSM unlocks with dummy reads and other times (most of the time) it does not.  I wrote about it in another post:
