Hello,
I want to develop inverter that has ethernet connection,
I don't understand MAC address.
Have I to pay a licence and change MAC in a progressive way every inverter sold ?
So If I sell two inverters with ethernet connection
I can use the same MAC address.
If a customes buy two inverters and connect them in the same LAN there will be no conflict ?
I can use the same MAC address.
No, MAC addresses have to be unique.

There will be a conflict. One should use different MAC addresses for different units.
Ah, ok,
but another question:
I buy Concerto demo board and on a label I read "MAC ADDRESS A8-63-F2-00-0D-AC"
If I go on http://standards.ieee.org/develop/regauth/oui/public.html
and I digit "A8-63-F2" in the text box
I read this MAC address is registered to Texas Instruments,
so I presume If I want to sell inverters with ethernet I have to register my company on IEEE and pay a licence.

This is taken care by the vendor and not by you as you're not the ethernet manufacturer.
I would like you to read more about MAC address from here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address

Gautam
The OEMs have to get the MACIDs registered from IEEE so there won't be conflicts. The control cards are TI products so TI has got the MAC ID registered and using them.

Nope, the MCU itself doesn't have any EMAC address populated in user OTP. The user of the MCU would have to do that, depending on the end equipment the MCU goes into.

If I buy, for example 100pz, of TMS320F28MH52C1 (Concerto device)
what MAC address I've to use ?
Texas contact me ?
Where can I get my MAC addresses ?
Thankyou
Mauro,
let me forward the question to marketing team, I guess they have this documented somewhere.
but usually customers get the MAC addresses allocated for their respective companies from the IEEE, as mentioned in one of the links posted by Gautam above.

Mauro,
you have to get the MACID block from IEEE. Below is the response I got from the team.
For customer products, each company has to apply to IEEE for an allocation, it’s a known subject. That’s how we got an allocation of IDs for a fixed cost.

Yes, who ever is making the end product that can be hooked up into a Ethernet network will have to do it.
