The confusion for TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT,TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, TMSCNCD28069MISO

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, MOTORWARE, CONTROLSUITE

HI,

Now I has a 1.2KW motor, I want to look for one inverter to driver it. I found your TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT and TMDSHVMTRINSPIN. From the picture of controlSuit seems that they use same High voltage Motor Control Development Board, they just have different C2000 control board. But spec say that TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT is 1.5KW, TMDSHVMTRINSPIN is 0.75KW.

My question is,

#1, TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT and TMDSHVMTRINSPIN use same High voltage Motor Control Development Board? Or just TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT is 1.5KW.

#2, TMSCNCD28069MISO can work with TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT? Seems that just TMSCNCD28069MISO can support InstaSPIN-MOTION GUI, and  InstaSPIN-MOTION GUI will be easier for my evaluation.

#3, InstaSPIN-MOTION GUI and InstaSPIN-FOC GUI are different GUI?

#4, If TMSCNCD28069MISO can't  work with TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT, how can improve TMDSHVMTRINSPIN to 1.5KW?

Any reply is appreciated!

Best regards,

Kent

  • Hello Kent,

#1, They are the same. Indeed the information is confusing in the website. Here is the note from the HW UG:

*All the power rating tests for the power stages have been performed at room temperature. The motor stage is rated for
1KW  with  the  usage  of  DC  Fan  and  heat  sink  shipped  with  the  board.  Operation  up  till  1.5KW  is  possible  with  a
combination of more airflow and a different heatsink. For high power tests a high voltage external power supply was used
(PFC and AC power stage was not used as these stages are rated for 750W).

#2, Yes, it can. FYI, all the chips with M (For example: TMS320FF28069M) support InstaSPIN-MOTION.

#3, Not really, they are different in some features. InstaSPIN-MOTION is more advanced so it has more features in GUI. But you can use InstaSPIN-FOC GUI for InstaSPIN-MOTION, but the InstaSPIN-FOC GUI will not have MOTION features.

#4, TMSCNCD28069MISO can work with TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT

    Good luck!

    Best regards,

    Maria

  • As addition, based on my experience, I have tested this kit with 1.1kW ACI motor and it works fine.

  • Maria, your information is very helpful for me, thanks you a lot. TKS~ Kent

  • I am glad I can help.
    Good luck!

  • Dear colleagues,

I am new to TI technologies and development tools.

My task is to design a PI-controlled 1.5 KW Constant-pressure water pump (booster), using a 3-phase AC induction motor.

As a development kit, I am trying to make a decision between TMDSHVMTRINSPIN and TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT.

I cannot quite understand what difference the two kits have. Can you please direct me to comparison if there is one?
Which one could be more useful for my application?

    Thank you
    Murat Isik
  • the three phase inverters are identical and should work fine for your motor.
the difference comes in which controlCARDs are included and which SW you want to use.

the INSPIN version includes an F28069M and F28027F card so that you can use MotorWare to implement InstaSPIN-FOC or InstaSPIN-MOTION (6x only).

the PFCKIT version includes an F28035 and F28335 card. Software examples for scalar, sensorless or encoder FOC are included:
    C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\HVMotorCtrl+PfcKit_v2.1

I highly recommend starting with InstaSPIN-FOC.
  • BTW - next time I recommend starting a new topic. If a thread is already marked Answered it usually doesn't get looked at again by a TI employee.
