I am using TMS320F28027 launchpad

I want to display text on LCD 16 x2 in 4 bit mode

Hi Ashutosh,

Did try a lot to port so many LCD drivers with parallel interface! All in vain... finally I used serial LCD both for 2x16 & graphical types implemented using SCI & SPI resp.

I am surprised that LCD interfacing with tms320f28027 is not possible what are the probable problems

Its not that... "Its not possible!"... its just that its not as easy like we do it with MSP430 or 8-bit Atmel or PIC devices.

Do you still want to continue with parallel data or serial? If parallel then you can communicate with Rafeeq from the above post. I can help you out in case interested in serial interface.

What you can do is use Serial LCD as mentioned in below link:

Use this sample code to communicate with the LCD: sci_echoback

Dear

My attempt to run Launcpad with 16x2 LCD (+5Volt) in 4bit mode led to sudden disaster

Last two three days Whenever I used to run program the LCD used to clear the screen But never use to show the text.

However, suddenly today there was short circuit ,

which has led to damage of my PC USB port, also launchpad and the power supply (5Volt regulator used to drive LCD).

I had connected the Power ground and Launchpad ground.

Also since the LCD may ouput the busy flag at D7 pin which may be 5 Volt, so I never used my controller in read mode. instead i used delay to confrim LCD is free.

After making several attempts how suddenly it has happened like this.

What must have happened.

Please suggest the possible reasons.

Mann... Its tough saying what might've happened to your board from here. Yes... some severe short that led to the above failure!
Be careful while doing connections. So is the board repairable or you'll have to buy a new one? First of all check for shorts on the board... try filtering out the components that seem to be short.

Or any other agencies are there who repair such boards

Or they use and throw.

I feel that Fuse F1 and Regulator (3.3volt) U4 is been damaged. Other components I am not sure.

How to confirm all these things.

As the components are SMD devices They are very difficult to debug.

Yesterday I tried to purchase from TI store but they are now saying 17.05$ +7 $ ( shipping) also when I click on checkout they say 17.05$+20$( shipping), why they are doing so.

As three months when I had purchased They hadnt charged me any shipping charges I had purchased only in 17.05$.

Both don't repairs these boards Ashu! We only have to do it and that too its a very tedious task. If you're in Bangalore I can help you connecting to few guys who can help you get it repaired.

About how to confirm.... that's the tedious task where you've to carefully segregate the faulty components. Going for a new board makes more sense. As for the shipping cost... I'm not sure why you're experiencing the above. Yes, previously shipping costs were waved off but now since few months the shipping cost is very much applicable.
