Will the Sin/Cos Encoders be a rotary transformer in the TIDA-00176 design?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00176, PGA411-Q1

hi,

As the title says,anyone knows?thank you。

  • Hello z.z,

thank you for your question. The TIDA-00176 TI design is a solution for SIn/Cos encoders. The basics of Sin/Cos encoders are explained in the TIDA-00176 design guide chapter 1.

With rotary transformer - I assume - you refer to a resolver. A resolver is a mechanical angle encoder based on a rotary transformer. It requires a sinusoidal excitation frequency and feeds back a sin- and cos-amplitude modulated signal.

TI has a dedicated single-chip resolver-to-digital solution with the PGA411-Q1. We also have a detailed TI design (TIDA-00363) featuring the PGA411-Q1 which shows provides an overview on how resolver works, hardware design guidelines and test results.
