TMS320F28377D: Internal Voltage Regulator

Part Number: TMS320F28377D

Hi --

I have inherited some schematics from a previous colleague which show VREGENZ connected to GND and VDD pins bypassed by not externally connected (see image attached). I noticed on the datasheet that VREGENZ is not supported and must be tied to VDDIO.

I have one of the boards that use the inherited schematic and I am measuring 1.2V at the VDD pins.

Was REGENZ support removed from the F28377 in the past year, or can I use the inherited schematics as is?

Thanks,

Eric

  • Hi Eric,

The internal VREG is what's not supported. The VREGENZ pin disables/enables the internal VREG. You will need to tie VREGENZ high to disable the internal VREG. The internal VREG still exists in the device but it will not be able to supply enough current to reliable power the device.
