C2000-GANG: How to set the C2000-GANG Programmer frequency to 60Mhz or more

Part Number: C2000-GANG
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2811

Hi,

As the title says, how to set the C2000-GANG Programmer frequency to 60Mhz or more?

Thank you!

  • Seven,

Which device are you working with?

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hi Seven,

The MCU frequency is set by software automatically between 10 MHz and the max frequency supported by MCU. Usually we are not setting the frequency higher then 50 MHz, even if the MCU can run over 100 MHz, because setting the MCU with higher frequency does not means the programming or reading would  be faster. Speed is limited by the programming specification related to used MCU (see data sheet) and the reading speed is limited by the JTAG communication speed.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • HI

Now I'm using C2000-GANG to Program TMS320F2811, and I want to develop my own Program interface. But I haven't found how to set up the frequency in your C2000-GANG.h. If use the C2000-GANG Programmer provided by Ti, how to set the frequency to 50Mhz or more?

  • Hi,

The SYS frequency for programming the MCU is set by the C2000-GANG. For F28011 the C2000-GANG need to know what external  osc, frequency or crystal frequency is connected to MCU. Based on that information entered in the OSC field in C2000-GANG, the programmer is selecting desired PLL multiplication. The calculated and set frequency is measured by the C2000-GANG. If measured frequency is out of the expected frequency more than +/- 5%, then programming procedure is terminated.

  • Hi

How to set the SYS frequency what I need by the C2000-GANG programmer and MCU's external oscillator.

  • If you provide external clock to MCU as it is in your case you must provide exactly the same OSC frequency in the OSC field of the C2000-GANG Programmer as you provide to MCU. If your external clock is e.g. 8 MHz, you must enter 8 MHz. Our software is setting the PLL value according to provided OSC value. If final measured frequency is not the same (tolerance /- 5%) as entered to OSC field then programming procedure is terminated.
