CCS/TMS320F28335: not showing result of sci communication on terminal

I’m implementing Example_2833xSci_Echoback code for sci communication through USB port as shown below with all its registers values and usb port setting in device manager. I’m not getting any message in my COM terminal 9 in ccs v 6.4. I’m using TMS320F28335 controller on Texas instrument peripheral explorer. I’ve also moved SW1 on control card downward, but nothing happened. I’ve also tried to link J1 and J3 connector on peripheral board, but it sometimes shows input output error and ultimately I’m not getting anything on SCI terminal. I’ve also Putty hyper-terminal for looking the result. Kindly help me to sort out this thing.

As said, terminal is not showing anything. I've opened the SCI_96.ht file through ccs. its picture is attached here, but it not editable as written

Please do not attempt to modify this file directly.

Also, loopcount and errorcount in watch expression is showing zero value.

It appears you are receiving the character back. IT is getting echoed back. What is your specific issue?

I don't have any message coming in my ccs terminal (opened by view-terminal). I'm not able to give entries which can echo back ( loopcount and errorcount are zero ).

Hi,

It is difficult to say what the issue is. This is a fairly simple example.

It appears the PC and device are not properly connected for SCI communication or the board is not configured properly.

Please make sure the example is using the same SCI GPIO pins which are pinned out to the USB mini connector through the FTDI chip.

What type of emulator are you using and how is it connected to the board? Is it through a mini or micro USB connector?

You can also scope the pins to make sure data is in fact being sent on the line.

May I know , why LD2 LED glow red in one of my control card? Also, I want to know the number of GPIO pins used for USB connector as it is not available in quick start guide of peripheral explorer kit overview.

You need to make sure you are connecting to the SCI pins used by the example.

Please see the device data sheet and the board schematic which is available in C2000Ware.

On the docking station there is a jumper, J13, that needs to be populated to allow SCI-RX to propagate from the device to the FTDI chip so that UART will work. Please confirm this step. From the picture it looks like this is not jumpered(but it could be the angle of the pic).

Deepak,
I just realized you are using the Peripheral Explorer board vs the docking station I mentioned. While there is a similar jumper, to the above, there is a known issue with this board and the UART to FTDI connection is broken. There is an option to use the J12 header on the PREX for SCI, but you would need to wire this up to a D9 connector to interface with the PC.
