Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F280049C

Hello,

I recently got the LAUNCHXL-F280049C and BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS. However, I have noticed that there aren't any SDK supports such as MotorWare or examples available. I was wondering where and how I can start using InstaSpin-FOC.

Thanks in advance.

  • The InstaSPIN support for F28004x series devices will not be available until the release of MotorControl SDK, which is slated to be released in March 2019

    Hi Sean,

Thank you for your reply. As I feared it will take some time. How possible is it to change the software generated for previous generations to the F28004x?

For example, would it be worth it to simply change registers?

  • In reply to Joshan Mangroo:

You won't be able to co-opt the Motorware code unfortunately. The FAST estimator will move to floating point with the F28004x version, and the whole ROM has moved from version 1.7 to version 2.0. We don't consider using the previous fixed point interface feasible when considering the now floating point ROM

    Hi Sean,

Excuse me for the late reply.

Is it possible to receive early stage software for the F28004x? If not, is there no other possibility to use FOC with the FAST observer? Meaning all users will just have to wait until the release of the SDK?

    Thank you.

    Joshan
  • In reply to Joshan Mangroo:

Customers who do not have assigned sales and technical support from Texas Instruments are not able to receive any early software access. The option for these customers is to wait for the release of the Motor Control SDK package

    Hello Sean,

    Thank you for your reply.

What would be the suggestion if waiting until March is not an option?

    Joshan

  • In reply to Joshan Mangroo:

We support InstaSPIN-FOC on F2802x, F2805x and F2806x devices today. You will need to use one of these devices instead of the F280049C if you need InstaSPIN-FOC before March
