Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am about to embark upon a TMS32F2812 based project. Isn't this based on C2000 MCU ?
I have an old Spectrum digital development board.
But using new CCS8 version
What is the best way to config CCS for this?...do I need to buy something new?
This project will eventually be using TIDM-1000 based code in the eval kit. BUT I will modify it for our power stage.
In our case, we will use the 3 phase input, but there will be no need for "current control loop" at all. Even the voltage control loop is going to be simple voltage feedback with fast loop BW...feed forward might be ok.
Any suggestions on starting this off on a good track?
