TMS320F28069M: Instaspin and DesignDRIVE

Part Number: TMS320F28069M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DESIGNDRIVE, MOTORWARE, C2000WARE-MOTORCONTROL-SDK, TMDXIDDK379D, LAUNCHXL-F280049C

Hello,

I would like to follow up on this post involving instaspin: http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/757098?TMS320F28069M-Future-of-InstaSPIN-MOTION.

In this post the user is asking about ongoing support for Instaspin software, and that the plan was for DesignDRIVE to be the successor to Instaspin.  Specifically he was concerned that DesignDRIVE does not have position control capabilities of SpinTAC.  Is it correct that TI will not have ongoing support of the Instaspin Motion with SpinTAC software?

  • We are not including InstaSPIN-MOTION on any future devices / software releases. It remains supported on F2806xM and F2805xM devices through MotorWare

Tomorrow we will release C2000WARE-MOTORCONTROL-SDK which will be the one-stop shop for C2000 Motor Control solutions going forward. These will primarily be InstaSPIN-FOC (sensorless) and DesignDRIVE (sensored) branded.

Encoder based Position and Velocity control examples will be of course through DesignDRIVE. First example is on TMDXIDDK379D with future releases on other C2000 MCU series and LaunchPad + BoosterPack combinations.

Sensorless examples will be through InstaSPIN-FOC. First example is on LAUNCHXL-F280049C with a new BoosterPack.
