TMDSEMU110-U: TMDSEMU110-U LED is not turning ON when USB cable is connected

Part Number: TMDSEMU110-U

Hi,

I am using TMDSEMU110-U debug probe to program/Debug my K2H processor, the debug probe was  working fine but, now when i connect it to my PC it is not turning ON and Both the LEDs are off.

In user guide it specifies that if both the LEDs are OFF then probe is not powered ON or Booting or Flash condition

I am not able to judge what is the issue request you to address this ASAP. Because at present I have only one debug probe and its not working and all my work is getting delayed due to this, We are completely dependent on TMDSEMU110 debug probe.

Regards,
Karthik

  • Karthik,

It is indeed strange that your Debug Probe would simply fail.

At any rate, please check the troubleshooting steps shown at the XDS110 page at:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../emu_xds110.html

This may be a simple device driver instantiation issue or perhaps a hardware fault. In this case, you can always check the section "Hardware checklist" of the Debugging JTAG page below:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../ccs_debugging_jtag_connectivity_issues.html

    Hope this helps,
    Rafael

  • Hi,

    Thanks cor your reply.

We tried to debug the issue as you suggested.

Followed the hardware checklist, where in we changed the USB cable also, there was no change in the behaviour the GREEN LED is not at all turning ON.

and when we tried to update the driver the it showed us NO DEVICE FOUND.

The Debug probe both LEDs are OFF and i tried to connect with the new cable also.

Request you to suggest what else can I do?

    Regards,
    Karthik

  • Hi,

    Is there an update?

    Regards,
    Karthik

  • Karthik,

Please apologize for the delay and thanks for sending the additional details.

Per your description, it seems the probe is indeed dead. One detail I forgot was to try the procedure "Recovering a Bricked XDS110 without JTAG" shown at the end of the XDS110SupportReadMe.pdf file, which is usually located at:

    ccsv8/ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110/XDS110SupportReadMe.pdf

This should be definitive sentence for your probe. If this procedure fails, your probe has a hardware issue and would need to be replaced.
