TMS320F28069F: PWM overlap protection circuit (TMDSHVMTRINSPIN vs IDDK v2.2.1)

Part Number: TMS320F28069F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN, DESIGNDRIVE, MOTORWARE,

Hello,

We purchased the TMDSHVMTRINSPIN development kit and have a question on the PWM overlap protection circuit on the main PCB.

The captured PWM overlap protection circuit is shown below.

We also have the DesignDRIVE Development Kit IDDK v2.2.1 and I have found out that the PWM overlap protection circuit is not provided on the IDDK v2.2.1.

As obvious, the TMDSHVMTRINSPIN development kit is for the Piccolo series DSP whereas the IDDK v2.2.1 for the Delfino series DSP.

We are wondering why the TMDSHVMTRINSPIN development kit includes the PWM overlap protection circuit whereas the IDDK v2.2.1 does not include it.

For your reference, last October we have developed a protoype inverter product for ACIM control by using a TMS320F28069F device and motorware software package.

Our protoype inverter product does not include the above-shown PWM overlap protection circuit.

We have tested the protoype motor inverter product along with ACIMs at rated load conditions for around six months till now and we have not any problem related to the PWM signal overlap with respect to the IPM device.

Thank you for your guidance.

With regards,

G. Kim
