CCS/TMS320F28388D: TI Flash programmers

Part Number: TMS320F28388D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear C2000 TI customers,

Here is the info regarding TI Flash programmers for the new TMS320F2838x device.

1. CCS Flash Plugin:

Flash programming support for this device is now available in CCSv9.0.1.  Users need to check for updates in CCS and install the below packages.

    A) TI C2000 Device Support package - Version 5.0.0.0 or higher

    B) Debug Server Flash (Windows) package - Version 9.1.0.1672 or higher

    C) TI Emulators package - Version 8.1.0.00012 or higher (This emulator update is needed to fix a bug regarding Multi-core emulation)

Note: TMS320F28388D Flash programming support will be available by default in CCSv9.1.x and onwards (when they are released). However, always check for latest updates in CCS and install if any.

2. UniFlash:

Flash programming support for this device is now available in UniFlashv5.0.0 (http://www.ti.com/tool/UNIFLASH

3. Flash API:  Flash API libraries, examples and the Flash API guide will be released in 4Q 2019.

CCS Flash Plugin and UniFlash Known issues (mentioned in the release notes):

1. When target M4 is connected to the debugger, an error message gets printed as "Cortex_M4_0: Error occurred during flash operation: Unknown property "FlashCoreSelection".  This message can be ignored. This will not affect the functionality of the Flash operations. This will be fixed in next versions of UniFlash and CCS Flash Plugin.

2. M4 DCSM GUI reflects C28x DCSM addresses instead of CM. Functionality is not affected. Only a GUI issue. This will be fixed in next versions of UniFlash and CCS Flash Plugin.

3. In UniFlash, "Configure Clock" button in CPU2 GUI is dummy. Users should use CPU1 GUI to configure PLL.  This field in CPU2 GUI will be hidden in next revision. Also, enhancement is planned to configure PLL by CPU1 automatically when CPU2 or CM Flash operations are invoked.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks and regards,
