TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC: TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC

Part Number: TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC

Hello sir,

I hope you are fine I am using HV 1PH DCAC  board as voltage source inverter , I want to boost output voltage to 320 vac, can I use step up transformer on the output of this board to boost the voltages.

Regard

Asim Gulzar

  • Asim,

We have not validated the design with a steup up transformer, only under the conditions that are documented in the UG.

This will a experiement you will need to conduct.

In general I don't expect there to be reasons why it should not work.

  • Thank you so much Manish sir for your help, please tell me one thing more, " Can I remove out put LC filter from my my voltage source inverter  ????" If I will do this and shift this LC filter to the output of step up transformer is this is the right way ???

  • No, please keep the LC filter right at the output of the inverter. The transformer will typically not cause any issue as the inductance is very low, but it can cause instability to the system. That is why you see right now in power system area there is more focus on understanding large scale stability of power electronics quippment as DERs increase in the grid.

  • Dear sir, i need some more information as per following question.

1 when i design my custom board using this HV 1PH DCAC reference design, can i regulate output AC volts at 50V??, i will use batteries for DC bus volt and then use a transformer to boost output desire voltage.

2 How can i increase the current rating (i.e current carrying  capacity )of my out put LC filter so i gain my desire power at output??

    Regard

    Asim Gulzar

  • Asim,

As you can see in the user guide, some of tests do ask for starting at low AC voltage, you will have to optimize for your use case but should be possible.

I cannot advise you on how can you increase current rating of the components, as those are components TI does not make. You may be able to get advise from manufacturers of inductors and capacitors.
