DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT: How to apply it to my custom design?

Part Number: DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT

Dear TI Experts:

With the Quick Start GUI, one can easily and quickly verify the DRV8301-HC-C2-KIT, and further, hope to apply TMS320F28035 in his own custom design.

We can find project files in C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\DRV830x-HC-KIT_v105\PM_Sensorless.   (if controlSUITE has been installed)

But it seems that DRV8301-HC-C2-KITDRV8301 and the above project is strongly related to the motor driver DRV8301. There are many functions about communication between TMS320F28035 and DRV8301 chip (or USB interface).

For a simple electric fan speed control (PMSM motor with FOC control), if we use different gate driver chips and MOSFETs, those above communications will be no longer needed. We just need the motor control programs.

Could you kindly show us how to extract the important parts on PMSM speed control from the above project files?  Or the TI has already provided some TI designs, such as TIDA-XXXX by TMS320F28035?  Could you kindly show me?

I will appreciate your kind help so much!

Wish you the best!

Tang Han

  • You just need to remove the driver file for DRV8301 and change the PWM & ADC configuration according to your own board, or you may refer to the example of the High voltage kit in controlSUITE that doesn't use the DRV gate driver.

Of course, you might search the TI design for your application, but you must change the h/w design configuration according to your system also.

  • Dear Yanming:

Thanks for your professional and kind reply.

For the High voltage kit TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT, I found that there is a power factor correction circuit in the kit.

The power factor correction circuit is just the hardware design to improve power efficiency, and totally not related to software programming, right?

Could you kindly reply to me?

    Thanks for your kind help!

    Wish you the best!

  • You might ignore and remove all these parts for PFC if you don't need this function, it's not necessary for the motor control.
