TIDM-1003: How to program it?

Part Number: TIDM-1003

Hello,

Im having difficulties with finding the proper programmator and the proper adapter for programming the mentioned TIDM-1003?
So I've made a PCB according to your provided gerber files. Then I've bought an original XDS100V2 JTag emulator with 14-Pin JTAG Header.

Now, according to the TIDM-1003 schematics and according to the pinout of the 14 pin JTAG header, it's not matched. I dont want to manually solder wires and connecting them to the emulator, I'd like to have some sort of an adaptor so I could have connection between TIDM-1003 and XDS100V2.
If anyobody has any experience with programming TIDM-1003 via JTAG, I would be very grateful if he/she could share some info, especially on which emulator and which adapter to use, and how to connect them.

The connections for JTAG on TIDM-1003 are on J9, and are as follows:

TDI  -- 1 2 -- NC
NC  -- 3 4 -- TMS
TDO -- 5 6 -- NC
NC  -- 7 8 -- TCLK
nRST  -- 9 10 -- TMS
NC -- 11 12 -- VCC
GND -- 13 14 -- NC

Thanks in advance,

Mitja

  • There is not a standard JTAG connector on the board since the size of the board is limited. You have to make a converter adapter to connect it to the JTAG emulator by manual.

    The connection should be

    JTAG(14pin)-1 (TMS)   --> J9-2 (TMS)          JTAG(14pin)-2 (TDI)  --> J9-5 (TRST)

    JTAG(14pin)-3 (TDI)     --> J9-1 (TDI)            JTAG(14pin)-4 (TDI)  --> J9-7 (GND)

    JTAG(14pin)-5 (3.3V)   --> J9-6 (3.3V)          JTAG(14pin)-6 (TDI)   --> NC

    JTAG(14pin)-7 (TDO)   --> J9-3 (TDO)          JTAG(14pin)-8  (TDI)  --> J9-7 (GND)

    JTAG(14pin)-9 (TCK)   --> J9-4 (TCLK)         JTAG(14pin)-10 (TDI)  --> J9-7 (GND)

    JTAG(14pin)-11 (TCK)  --> J9-4 (TCLK)        JTAG(14pin)-12 (TDI)  --> J9-7 (GND)

    JTAG(14pin)-13 (EMU0I)  --> NC                  JTAG(14pin)-14 (TDI)  --> NC

  • Hi,

    thank you for you kind reply. Unfortunately, this is something I didnt want to hear :)
    If that's the case, then I guess it's a bad reference design by TI and should be made so that you can easily connect to it with JTAG (like all other normal boards).

    Thanks!

  • As you see, this is a reference solution that must consider the installation size, not an EVM board. Customer can change something according to their own requirement.
