TIDM-1022: For Interleaved boost PFC only

Part Number: TIDM-1022
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: POWERSUITE

Dear Champs,

I am asking this for our customers.

They want to design interleaved boost PFC on F28004x, and are evaluating TMDSILPFCKIT and TIDM-1022.

In their application, valley switching is not required.

TMDSILPFCKIT seems the application they are doing, but it's based on F28035 and will need to port codes from F28035 onto F28004x.
TIDM-1022 seems interleaved PFC + valley switching on F280049.
Therefore, our questions are:
1) Do you have any comment which reference design is easier to start with and refer to? TMDSILPFCKIT or TIDM-1022?
2) If the user only wants to do interleaved PFC on TIDM-1022, do you have any suggestions how we can modify the codes?
For example, if they simply disable the CLA ISR for valley switching, does it work?
Because many customers still only use single-phase/2-phase interleaved boost PFC, I think they are interested in this question, too.

  • Hi Wayne,

    1> I would say using TIDM-1022 is a better choice since it is not only a valley switching solution with light load but also an interleaved boost PFC with heavy load. If the customer directly design ILPFC using F280049, this is the right way to go.

    2>For this reference design, you can select ILPFC mode as below in the powerSUITE and by default it will disable the valley switching and will do traditional ILPFC. This will set pfcMode = ILPFC_enabled;

    Also please note that the phase shedding only goes with valley switching. But the customer can easily modify the code to do whatever they want. Hope this helps.

    Regards,
