INSTASPIN-BLDC: F28006x

Part Number: INSTASPIN-BLDC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, MOTORWARE

Hi,
We are a drone company located in India. We are looking for a FOC based ESC solution for our drone. We need to drive four BLDC motors.
We are looking for 4in1 ESC solution in order to reduce the ESC size and weight.

Motor specifications are as follows:
The maximum current is about 15A for a single motor. The max RPM is about 10000. The input voltage is 25V max.

How many motors can be driven using a single controller?
Is the software open source. Can you please provide any references? Can we make a modification to the firmware?

Does TI provide any help with the PCB designing? As in if anyone can verify our design and help us choose components?

  • It depends on the control algorithm and device you want to use. InstaSPIN-FOC can't drive 4 motors on a single controller, just two motors on F2806xF. The TMS320F2837x can drive 4 motors if you want to use the classical FOC without sensing phase voltage. Unfortunately, we do not have such an example reference.  We just provide support on our reference designs. If you have specific questions on the reference design in controlSUITE or motorWare please let me know. You may have to reach out to an engineering consulting company to help you with the PCB design in detail.
