To help make decision on a suitable device for our product, We have a few questions we need support to answer;
1) The F2801, F2808, F2812 and F2407A are classed as ‘other real-time control MCUs’. They appear to be legacy devices. I read (somewhere) that the 2801, 2808 and 2812 are not recommended for new designs, although they are still classed as ‘active’ parts. But what about the F2407A?
2) Are the ‘other real-time MCUs’ still compatible with the latest development suites?
3) Is there an objective argument why I shouldn’t be using these ‘other real-time MCUs’ in future designs?
4) What does the SM prefix denote over the TMS prefix?
5) Are the F28035 and F28335 both ‘Gen2’ devices, and the F28377D a ‘Gen3’ device? What were the release dates of the F28035, F28335 and F28377D? as We need to choose a future-proof device.
6) The F28335. I don’t see any reference to comparator features (COMP/CMPSS). Is this true?
A question about IntraSPIN-FOC and IntraSPIN-MOTION.
7) Are IntraSPIN-FOC and IntraSPIN-MOTION available the devices listed in blue in the table above? Are they hardware features or software features? And if software, what hardware is needed to run them?
And about peripherals
8) Some peripherals appear to be mutually exclusive? Is there a some sort of tool that allows me to allocate peripheral functions for a particular device, and see what is still available. I’d rather not have to dig into a 2500 page datasheet only to find half way through that I can’t have both SPI and I2C on a particular a bank (crude example possibly not applicable).
And a general question
9) What is the US export control status of the three parts in blue above? ITAR? Department of Commerce? No restrictions?
