TMS320F280049: SCI Maximum Baud Rate

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Hello Champs,

In F28004x TRM, it describes "If BRR = 0, then SCI Asynchronous Baud = LSPCLK / 16", that is to say, if setting SCIHBAUD = 0 and SCILBAUD = 0, then SCI will have maximum baud rate which is LSPCLK/16, is it right?

What about hardware design consideration for reaching this maximum baud rate for SCI? Would you please kindly help? Thanks!

Best Regards,

Linda

  • Hi Linda,

    Yes, BRR = 0 will give LSPCLK/16.

As far as actually achieving that baud rate, it will depend on the capabilities of the target you are trying to talk to, the accuracy of the clock on both both the c2000 and the target, the transceivers/physical interface, and distance of the physical layer.

Generally if you are concerned about maximum possible speed, SCI/serial interface would not be the first choice. SPI or maybe FSI (if talking to another C2000) would probably be preferred.

  • Hello Devin,

It's clear. Thank you so much for your kind help.

    Best Regards,

    Linda
