TMS320F28379D: Problem with program reload for CPU2

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

According to tutorial I run project as follows:

1. In target configurations window i launch selected ccxml for dual core CPU (Spectrum Digital XDS560V2)

2. Connect to CPU1 and from menu Run->Load-> Load Program-> cpu1.out

3. Connect to CPU2 and from menu Run->Load-> Load Program-> cpu2.out

4. Resume CPU1

5. Resume CPU2

During the first attempt i can program CPU2 without issues.

Could You please explain me how to reload program for CPU2? When I recompile project and want reload CPU2 i get such error. I must reinsert USB Jtag cable and start whole procedure again, this is very annoying. I have also tried disconnect CPU2 before reload program without success.

There is no in the instruction in the tutorial how to reload program only for CPU2.

When i try to reload CPU2 always get debugger errors.

Hi,

Please make sure you halt CPU1 before you try to reload the program on CPU2.

Here is the screen of the Console during CPU2 reload program. CPU1 is suspended. The program is loaded to flash.

When i try to reload program to CPU1 i always lost connection with CPU2. It doesn't matter if any CPU is paused or not. I need to remove and reconnect USB to connect again.

In the beginning of the main in the CPU1 I set only

Hi,

Thank you for the details.

CPU2 Flash Plugin needs GSxRAM ownership. If your CPU1 application locks up the GSXMSEL config, CPU2 Flash Plugin may not be able to get the ownership of the GSxRAM and hence asked. That is not the problem then.

Here are the instructions that I provided in the E2E post link that I shared with you yesterday (https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/c2000/f/171/t/397002?Problem-in-creation-building-a-new-project-dual-core-in-TMS320F28337D-delfino).

Make sure to check for CCS updates and install any updates that are available.

Can you try the below steps? I want to make sure that CPU1 is not disconnected.

1) Launch the target configuration from the Target configurations window (View -> Target Configurations -> Right click on the F28377D ccxml -> Launch selected configuration)

2) Connect to CPU1 and then to CPU2 (In the debug window, select the C28xx_CPU1, right click -> Connect Target. Do the same thing for C28xx_CPU2).

3) Reset CPU1 and then CPU2 (Select C28xx_CPU1, then in the debug window menu -> Run -> Reset -> CPU reset. Do this for C28xx_CPU2)

4) Load the code in CPU2 (Select C28xx_CPU2 and then in the debug window menu click on "Run" -> Load -> Load program and choose the .out file that you want to load in to CPU2)

Let us know if above does not help.
